Background: Gina Ankeny, LCSW is a Board Certified Virginia state licensed psychotherapist, practice founder and lead clinician at Tanglewood Therapy. Ankeny completed her graduate studies at the University of Southern California where she was a member of the Phi Alpha honor society for excellence in scholarship and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA. She has provided behavioral health services in private practice, community clinics, emergency room settings, and intensive outpatient environments. Combining her business experience and passion for mental health, Ankeny launched Tanglewood Therapy as a startup with the aim to build a center of excellence for EMDR-based treatment in Virginia.

Specializations: Ankeny was a peer research tutor at USC and was actively engaged in evaluation of best practices in therapy treatments with a focus on EMDR and CBT. She also conducted intensive research on disorders related to trauma, depression, anxiety and attachment. EMDR was the topic of Ankeny's primary research, in which she evaluated the application of EMDR for the treatment of emergency responders following critical incidents.
